New blog alert! Do you like Japan? Do you like coffee? Who doesn’t? I’ve been enjoying a lot of Japanese Latte Artists online lately. It can be hard to find their work for non-Japanese speakers, so I made a blog to collect some of my favorites 🙂
Latte art seems really perfect for the Japanese ephemeral esthetic. The beauty is fleeting, everything is impermanent. Mono no aware is defined as awareness transience of things, and a gentle sadness or wistfulness at their passing. Just think of the amount of effort put into creating these tiny works of art, only to consume them or watch them fade before your eyes.
Sean came up with the name “Chotto Latte,” which makes me happy because it combines some of my favorite things: Japanese, coffee, and terrible puns. Also, I drew this little picture to be a mascot, what do you think?
Anyway, check out my new blog, and let me know if you like it! It updates every day, and there’s a nice little archive going. If you told your friends about it, I’d really appreciate it 🙂 Everybody likes coffee, right?
