As I posted recently, I absolutely love the video for World Order’s Have a Nice Day. It’s been getting stuck in my head whenever the sun is shining, so I thought it would be nice to know what the exact lyrics were, but I couldn’t actually find any English translation!
I really enjoyed translating Kyary Pamyu Pamyu’s Yume no Hajima Ring Ring and Family Party, so I decided to go ahead and do the lyrics for this as well. It’s short but poetic, and I had a lovely conversation with a coworker when he helped me to understand the nuances of the lines. Hopefully it’s not too far off! I think Genki Sudo actually speaks quite decent English, so perhaps he might see this post and let us know? Let’s tweet it to him and see if it works 😉
On a side note, the men in black just announced a “Fan Tour” this June, which sounds like an absolutely incredible experience. By Fan Tour, I mean “chance to hang out in a fancy hotel in the mountains with the group for a weekend”.
Seriously, it’s a weekend in a hotel with events including live performance, picture with the band, and a freaking “Sports Festival.” I assume this means doing calisthenics and relay races with Genki Sudo himself, because of course. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, t-shirt and group High-Five (I’m not making this up) all included.
Wouldn’t it be awesome to cover it for this blog? Unfortunately 500 bucks is pretty steep for a weekend, but it does look amazing! I’d absolutely love to be there!
These lyrics are my unofficial translation, so any mistakes are of course on me. If you repost them anywhere, please link back! Thanks!
HAVE A NICE DAY
Sunday morning flashed bright
Let’s go back to town today
Favorite jacket
Everyone’s waiting at the intersection
EVERYWHERE I’m Great
EVERYWHERE Smart, Check it out [Ed. note: every source I’ve seen says スマート, which translates to “smart.” But it sounds like スマーホ to me, which would make the line “Smartphone, check it out.” I think that makes more sense. What do you hear?]
EVERYWHERE Simple Dance
Look at the future through the glass
EVERYWHERE You’re cute
EVERYWHERE Smart, Check it out
EVERYWHERE Simple colors
Smiling at you through the glass
Today, HAVE A NICE DAY
Today, HAVE A NICE DAY
Sunday morning blue sky
Let’s go see that kid today
Came up the escalator
I rushed to the stage where you’re waiting
EVERYWHERE I’m great
EVERYWHERE Smart, check it out
EVERYWHERE Simple dance
Look at the future through the glass
EVERYWHERE You’re cute
EVERYWHERE Smart, Check it out
EVERYWHERE Simple colors
Smiling at you through the glass
Today, HAVE A NICE DAY
Passing through this Love Pattern [Ed. note: apparently the feeling is that the speaker is sort of watching people on the street falling in love, or has his own Love Pattern, which sounds a bit like Weather Pattern]
I’m just waiting for your reply
Seems to disappear when I put it into words
My feelings are like bittersweet chocolate
So! Like a cloud passing overhead
I already know your answer
Passing sky told me “Shall we meet again?”
My love doesn’t reach anyway

everywhere スマートにcheck it out
everywhere スマートにcheck it out
HAVE A NICE DAY
今日はHAVE A NICE DAY
everywhere スマートにcheck it out
everywhere スマートにcheck it out
HAVE A NICE DAY

Hi, Alice!! I’m Kumi. I also tried to translate “Have A Nice Day” as follows.
come up with an idea on Sunday morning
I’m gonna hit the road today
put on my favorite jacket
to the intersection where they are waiting
*everywhere, since I am great
everywhere, check it out smartly
everywhere, dance simply
and see the future through the glass
everywhere, since you are cute
everywhere, check it out smartly
everywhere, dressed simply
and smiling through the glass
TODAY, Have A Nice Day
blue sky on Sunday
I’m gonna go see her
run up the escalator
rush to the stage where you are waiting
repeat*
my love is just passing through
just waiting for your reply
words would be up in smoke
my love is like bitter taste chocolate
passing through like clouds in the sky
I’ve already know your answer
said “See you” and you left
my love can never reach you
I hope you will enjoy my translation!!
I love it! I especially like how you used passing through in the end. That’s my favorite part 🙂
WOW Thak you for your reply!!
The 2nd last line, I can hear “mata aoune (t)te satte(i)ku sugata”.
in 2nd verse
I should have said….
I’m gonna go see “you”, or “the girl”, instead of “her”.
Thank you for credited and visited my blog! glad to see my article really help (^_^)

In Japanese, スマート means stylish or fashionable, as in “smartly dressed”. Hope that helps clear up your confusion 🙂
I first saw this when I’m looking for Videos of AKB and I loved their song in an instant. Sure I came for AKB but there’s something about World Order that is so mesmerizing right?
