As you can probably tell, I enjoy seeing how American companies express themselves on foreign soil. As much as I love seeing what insanity McDonald’s has come up with next, Starbucks is also a great source of tasty and interesting treats.
Their Valentine’s day treat was an adorable little personal sized Viennese Sacher Torte, the traditional chocolate cake I fell in love with during my high school exchange year in Austria.
It’s not perfectly accurate, but it was quite delicious, especially if you paid the extra 50 yen to add whipped cream. It might seem a bit dry without it, but “mit schlag” is a necessity when it comes to Sacher Torte! Does it look yummy? Would you like to try it?
And look at this adorable New Year’s greeting on our latte! That is the kanji for the Zodiac figure of the rabbit, which is the Zodiac animal for 2011. And they made the bunny’s ears into the 11 in 2011! How cute is that?
Are there any particularly awesome treats at your local Starbucks? The new Sakura line just came out for Spring time, and I can’t wait to try it this weekend!
I loooooove Starbucks here. They actually care about people who are allergic to milk and will substitute soy in their lattes 😀 I really want to try the Sakura latte! Their Christmas drinks were SO good, I kinda wish they could be a year-round thing, lol.
The Christmas drinks are ridiculous! I would drink Gingerbread all year if I could. In the states they have Cinnamon Dolce year round, which is similar, but I don’t think I’ve seen it here!
Eh…Gingerbread is better.
Oh my gosh, that bunny on your cup wrapper is sooo cuuuuute!! ; 3;
Isn’t it adorable? He made me happy 😀 They never do that during the peak times, so maybe if I go back at more quiet times…hehe 🙂
My one visit to Tokyo, the Petes Coffee in our hotel drove my cousin NUTS. Aside from the language barrier, they always put just the tiniest amount of milk in his coffee when he was looking for a big AMERICAN size shot of milk. And the concept of “just let me do it” didn’t seem to translate to the now panicy clerk. Luckily his Japanese wife was there to defuse this daily international incident.
Haha, yeah, the one by us has quite a little service counter where you can add all sorts of accouterments, but I’ve sometimes gotten into epic battles with other chains. “I want TWO sugars! TWO!”
Yum. Love Starbucks! I’m also planning to try the new Sakura drinks this weekend. I think they’re the same as last year – and they were soooooo gooooood!! 🙂
Did you get one yet? Yummmm…:)
Not yet… maybe in an hour or so! 😀

I have never understand the appeal of Starbucks. I like coffee but not what they sell.
Anyways, I’ve written about their “Sakura” campaign a couple of years ago:

They’re not for everyone, but I enjoy them 🙂 I particularly liked the mugs from 2009, I picked up a couple of the pink & green ones!
