We’ve landed! We’re safe and sound in LA and everything went smoothly. The girl at the ANA counter did get a look of polite Japanese terror when we rolled up the enormous Daruma boxes. It probably didn’t help that I mixed up my vocabulary, and when she asked what was inside I told her it was おばけ instead of おもちゃ–I meant to say that they were toys, but instead informed her that we had boxes full of ghosts. Whoops!
Of course by this point there were about 10 ANA staff members floating around with worried looks on their faces, but as soon as they lifted the boxes it was all good. The boxes are huge but weigh about 9 kg, so they’re really light! There are also pictures of Daruma printed on the boxes, which helped too. They were all pretty amused to see the giant Daruma getting shipped off to America!
But now we’re here, safe and sound, all checked into the lovely Westin Bonaventure. The Daruma are pretty sleepy after their journey…
Remember, tomorrow morning is our panel–10:45 AM in LP4 (LACC411). We brought a TON of stuff to giveaway, so I really hope people come! And even if you can’t make it, you can still enter the giveaway here on the blog as well!
The Daruma remind me of when you wake up Sleepy Alice. Speaking of lol..Sleeppppy Alice! ❤
Hilarious pics! We just arrived with a suitcase full of crackers that I don’t know the name of yet….
This post is adorable! The fact that you said you had a box full of ghosts made me laugh out loud! 😉
Haha, I’m glad you liked it! 🙂
Love these pics, but I LOVE that you told her you had boxes full of ghosts!! I once told a lady I had children in a box, when I ALSO meant toys… I blame Kodomo no Omocha!!
Awwwww Alice and the Daruma look so cute in bed together! ❤
Those are some awesome pics XD (too bad there wasn’t time for a caption contest)
Dear Sean and Alice,
I’m the chick who won the Cheese Curry Ramen at your AX panel. While I haven’t tried it yet (am waiting to get a bunch of friends together so they can sample the goodness) I do want to say thank you for entrusting me with the responsibility of sampling and commenting upon this particular flavor of Ramen. Also, thank you for a very informative and fun panel. Any chance I could see the Nagano footage? You teased us with it so mercilessly at the con.
Surfed around your blog and found it lovely. I wanted to subscribe to the RSS feed but there was an error. I’m using Safari 5 on a Snow Leopard OS. Please reply soon so I read your posts with ease.
