Today’s art: World Order

20140515-090304.jpg I’ve been doing a lot of pen & ink lately, but not posting it, so here’s one of Genki Sudo and the boys. I’ve also been torturing Continue reading

Haägen-Dazs Japan’s new “Spoon Vege” Tomato & Carrot Ice Cream! VIDEO REVIEW

photo (5)The new vegetable line of ice creams debuted in Japan today! I had to go all over town to find them, but of course I wanted to try them on the first day. My friend Vince suggested that I do a video review, so you guys get to see my reaction in real time. What do you think? Do you want to try these ice creams? What is your dream ice cream flavor?

Most importantly, should I continue with this Youtube experiment? Let me know in the comments! And please like and subscribe and share this video 😀

Today’s Watercolor: Happy Mother’s Day!

20140511-211810.jpg Wish I could give a big hug to all the moms and stepmoms and aunts and grandmas and lovely ladies out there. It can be hard being so far away on days like these, but thank goodness for the internet!

In other news, the my lyrics translation posts have been doing really well recently, especially KPP’s Yume no Hajima Ring Ring and World Order’s Have a Nice Day. I really enjoy doing those, so I’ll probably do more in the future. What should I translate next?

Also I’m pretty excited for the new Haägen-Dazs Spoon Vege series coming out tomorrow–I may even try to do a video review! A friend recommended I try the Youtubes, so maybe I’ll give it a go 🙂 Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated!

World Order’s “Have a Nice Day” Lyrics English Translation

genki sudo As I posted recently, I absolutely love the video for World Order’s Have a Nice Day. It’s been getting stuck in my head whenever the sun is shining, so I thought it would be nice to know what the exact lyrics were, but I couldn’t actually find any English translation!

I really enjoyed translating Kyary Pamyu Pamyu’s Yume no Hajima Ring Ring and Family Party, so I decided to go ahead and do the lyrics for this as well. It’s short but Continue reading

Today’s Watercolor: Koi no Bori

Today is Children’s Day in Japan! These large carp streamers or Koi no Bori are hung outside to blow in the wind. Carp are supposed to symbolize strength, and the image of carp climbing up waterfalls is well known in Japan. Some parents display these streamers, and it also seems quite trendy to make cakes shaped like these fanciful fish. Have you celebrated Children’s Day before?

Today’s Watercolor: Songkran! สงกรานต์!

Happy Songkran! Songkran is the Thai New Year festival, and is basically celebrated with a giant water fight (Thailand is a little hot this time of year, and by “this time of year” I mean always.) It’s celebrated in Continue reading

Today’s Watercolor: Hoppy Easter!

20140420-222902.jpgEarlier this week I asked Facebook what I should paint for easter, and a friend suggested her pet bunny, and eggs and stuff. Done!

Easter isn’t very well known here in Japan, though a few foreign companies are trying to market it here and there. When we told the English club that we would be having an Easter party and dying Easter Eggs (I’m so excited!) we explained the holiday by asking who’s been to see the Easter displays at Tokyo Disney Land.

Domino’s provided a lovely Easter Dinner, and while there weren’t any Easter Baskets some Kit Kat balls did the trick–they’re kind of egg shaped? And if you really get a craving, apparently you can make your own Cadbury Creme Eggs! How cool is that? I can’t wait to try the recipe, though I’m slightly worried about having so many Creme Eggs in the house…

Today’s watercolor: Darth Pooh!

Recently a friend posted this hilarious video of Jim Cummings, voice actor for Winnie the Pooh and Darkwing Duck among others, using his powers for evil. Or the Dark Side, at least–reading the lines of Darth Vader in the voice of Winnie the Pooh.

What’s a girl to do but paint the mashup? I do love mashups!

What do you think? What characters should I combine next?
