New Kyary Pamyu Pamyu “Tokyo Highway” English Lyrics Translation

Well, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu’s Pika Pika Fantajin has been out for a few weeks now, and has done fairly well for itself. Reasonably favorable reviews in the Western press, combined with reaching number one on the Oricon charts are all solid achievements for the Harajuku-moppet turned International Ambassador of Kawaii. This song hasn’t had an associated video released, but it’s a fun little ditty with a nice poppy melody. It’s no Yume no Hajima Ring Ring, but it fits well on the overall album. Check out my other translations from this album, with Family Party, Hitomi Serious and Kira Kira Killer. And as always, feel free to follow along on TwitterTumblr and Facebook 🙂

This is my personal translation! Feel free to share it, but as always, PLEASE CREDIT AND LINK BACK 🙂

Under the cut, the lyrics for Tokyo Highway orトーキョーハイウェイ:

Like looking in a microscope

Small things moving around

Our speed…certainly,

If you look from the sky, we’d look like miniatures

Tokyo Highway, sparkling city

Reached for the stars, this sparkling color

Tokyo Highway, running across

Two people at the speed of light

The city is busy

One person standing, won’t be stopped

Made dizzy by the speed

Approaching the distance

The bass goes thump thump

Wind goes buzz buzz

Beyond the tunnel of the sea

I can see our city

  1. I like those lyrics. Simple, but evocative. I should listen to the song now!

    • Yeah, they’re nice! Not nearly as gibberishy as some of them (I’m looking at you, Kira Kira Killer) and a touch of poignancy with interesting imagery. The song is alright–nothing amazing, but nice enough 🙂
