The picture is below the cut, because it is most definitely Not Safe For Work.
So recently some friends went to Okinawa, and brought this back as a souvenir for another friend, who was kind enough to share over the weekend.
One of the most popular souvenirs or omiyage from Okinawa are these little cookies called chinsukou that have a particular shape and flavor. Well, these are shaped just a little differently than usual, and have been dipped in chocolate. By the way, chinko is slang for, well, you can probably guess.
Chinsukou + chinko = chinkosukou. There is even a website in case you want to order some for your very own! And a twitter! And a commercial! Oh, Japan…you so crazy.
What’s the weirdest souvenir you’ve ever gotten?
Japan IS crazy…I’ve never seen this before and I was born there! lol. Not sure if you’ve already featured this but sticking to the theme…have you heard about Hokkaido’s famous omiyage, Marimokkori? It was a hit when I was in high school 😀
Ohhh, Marimokkori is SO WEIRD! He’s one of the things I tell people about when they don’t believe me that Japan is weird. “See, there’s these algae balls…and the bulge…”
I just got back from Okinawa today, and I saw those there!
Ooh, lucky bum! What were you doing in Okinawa?
Hmm, ‘Southern Country Choco” flavour, eh?
I wonder what they mean by ‘southern’
Oh, man, I don’t even want to know! Ha!
Hahahahaha! Reminds me of the day I received this gift: http://haikugirl.wordpress.com/2009/01/12/a-unique-gift/ (from a male student old enough to be my grandfather…). (>_<)
Ohhhh, lord that is creepy! Especially since it came from a student, gah! Apparently there’s a phallus museum here in Gunma we should check out, haha!
